Can-Am ATV: Outlander & Renegade

Can-Am is a market leader in the ATV world, known for producing the most powerful and technologically advanced quads available. Whether you are looking at the utility-focused Outlander or the aggressive, sport-tuned Renegade, Can-Am machines are built around the legendary Rotax engine platform and industry-leading suspension systems.

Core Can-Am ATV Models:

  • Outlander (Utility & Adventure): The flagship utility model. It ranges from the mid-sized 450/570 (or the newer Gen 3 500/700) to the beastly 850 and 1000R V-Twin models. It’s designed for heavy-duty work, towing, and long-distance exploration with its "LinQ" accessory system for easy rack mounting.

  • Renegade (Sport-Utility): The most powerful sport ATV on the market. It shares the same chassis and drivetrain as the Outlander but strips away the racks and utility bodywork for a lightweight, aggressive design. It is the ultimate machine for mud racing and high-speed trail riding.

  • Outlander MAX (2-Up): Featuring an extended wheelbase and a dedicated passenger seat with integrated handgrips and footrests. The MAX models are designed for stability and comfort when riding with two people.

  • DS (Youth Models): A range of smaller-displacement quads (DS 70, 90, 250) designed to introduce younger riders to the sport with safety features like built-in speed limiters.

Engine Specifications & Power:

Can-Am quads are powered by Rotax engines, which are widely considered the benchmark for ATV performance:

  • 450 & 500/700 (Single Cylinder): Efficient, reliable, and punchy. The newer 700 series offers class-leading torque for mid-sized utility work.

  • 650 / 850 / 1000R (V-Twin): These engines provide the signature Can-Am growl and explosive acceleration. The 1000R produces a staggering 91 hp, making it the most powerful factory ATV engine in existence.

Key Performance Features:

  • Tri-Mode Dynamic Power Steering (DPS): Allows the rider to choose between three levels of steering assistance based on the terrain—Min, Med, or Max.

  • Visco-Lok 4WD System: An automatic locking front differential that monitors wheel speed and sends power to the wheel with the most traction without the need for a manual diff-lock button.

  • Torsional Trailing Arm Independent (TTI) Rear Suspension: Unlike traditional A-arms, TTI allows the rear wheels to move up and down in a straight line, eliminating scrub and maintaining better tyre-to-ground contact.

  • ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System): Many UK-spec models (T-Category) come with ABS, providing superior control on slick surfaces and ensuring the machine is road-legal under T3b homologation.
